The tropical climate here is consistently warm and pleasant year-round. There is not a huge difference between Hawaii's two seasons-summer (May to October) and winter (October to April)-but winter does bring the most rainfall. Heavy rains and tropical storms can lead to landslides, mudslides, and flash flooding. Islanders should also be prepared for tsunamis (there have been a dozen over the past 200 years), as well as tropical cyclones, volcanic eruptions, earthquakes, and infrequent hurricanes.
