Situated between the Great Plains and the Gulf States, Arkansas has pleasant, mild winters and hot, humid summers with frequent thunderstorms. As part of Tornado Alley, Arkansas has experienced some of the most destructive tornadoes on record. In 2008, the state also had record rainfall, snowfall, flooding, and tropical storms.
